Barbara Jacqueline Hadden of Catonsville, MD, passed away on November 12, 2018 at Howard County General Hospital following a sudden illness. She was a young 66. Barbara was born October 1, 1952 to the late James and Anna Marie (Mercurio) Hadden in Trenton, NJ.

She served as a Cryptologist in the U.S. Navy for eight years during the Cold War with tours of duty in Italy, Puerto Rico and Japan.

Most recently, she was a receptionist and caregiver at the Lighthouse Senior Living Facility in Ellicott City, MD where she was beloved by the residents and staff alike.

Barbara is survived by her Daughter Lindsey M. Glotzer and Son In-law Dylan of Durham, NC; Sisters Carol Kirchkof (Ed) of Pea Ridge, AK , and Jane Kreher (Al) of St. Louis, MO ; as well as six nieces and nephews and their children.

She is also survived and will be lovingly remembered by her friend and former husband Richard Comer (Annette) of Waltham, MA; life-long friend (and spiritual sister) Jan Book of Jackson, NJ and a host of dear friends throughout the greater Baltimore area.

Barbara was an intensely private person regarding personal matters but a bold, passionate defender against social injustice of all kinds, especially issues regarding human and women’s rights. She was a member of Chicks on the Run and OWLS- both social/service organizations.

Barbara enjoyed spending time in the outdoors just walking and talking with her friends, attending live music performances, and dancing. She loved to dance and could get those around her up on their feet to join in.

A Remembrance Service is being planned for a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to World Wildlife Fund.
