Diane M. Purcell, 76, passed away 13 October 2019 after a long illness. She was retired from retails sales and a variety of other customer service jobs. She loved being around people and helping them have an enjoyable and productive shopping experience. She also had a fondness for animals, especially cats. The daughter of the late John and Doris (Lowery) McKinney, Diane was born 11 February 1943 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and raised in Newburgh, New York, along with brother John, sister Marilyn and brother Brian (deceased). She graduated from Newburgh Free Academy and attended classes at Orange County Community College. She joined the U.S. Army Reserves and later the U.S. Army National Guard, receiving Honorable discharges from both services. Husbands Lawrence Thompson and later Bernard “Eugene” Purcell predeceased her. Survivors include her brother John McKinney (Leslie) and her sister Marilyn Cole.
