Dr. Sue Goliber Obituary

Dr. Sue Helder Goliber - beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, colleague, teacher, neighbor, and friend - passed away on July 2, 2019. She was 72.

 

Dr. Goliber was born to Harry and Mildred Helder in Grand Rapids, MI, in 1946, the youngest of four children. She studied history at Calvin College and earned her Ph.D. in history from Kent State University. In 1978, she started teaching at Mount Saint Mary's University - one of only five women on the faculty - where she remained for 34 years before retiring emeritus professor of history in 2012.

 

She is survived by her sisters, Audrey Jansen and Karen DeVos; brother-in-law, Chuck Jansen; husband, Dr. Thomas Goliber; daughters, Kate Lord and Abigail Goliber; son-in-laws, Jim Lord and John Moyer Jr.; and grandchildren, Elaina and Andrew Lord, and Thomas and Enid Moyer.

 

A memorial service will be held July 15 at 1030am at the Lutheran Village at Miller's Grant. Memorial donations can be made to The National Parkinson Foundation or The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES).
