Edward Lee Waddell

            Edward Lee Waddell, age 68, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018. Born August 30, 1949, in Frederick, MD he was the son of the late Herbert A. Waddell and S. Catherine Hoover Waddell. He is survived by son Brandon Kappert and wife Evelyn, brothers and wives, Robert and Carole Waddell and Paul and Cathi Waddell, sister Sally J. Stair, nieces Jennifer Stair, Carrie Fox, Sarah LaCoss and nephew Aaron Stair and great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded by a brother John Mark Waddell and a nephew David J. Waddell.

            Ed was a 1967 graduate of Francis Scott Key High School, and a 1971 graduate of Benjamin Franklin University, Washington, DC.  He worked as a CPA all his adult life and established Cardoni Waddell LLC in 1999.  Through the years he served on the Board of Directors of Howard Community College Educational Foundation Inc, as well as being the treasurer for the Foundation.  He served on the Howard County General Hospital Pension Committee, the Jim Rouse Entrepreneurial Fund, Howard County Chamber of Commerce, Howard County Economic Development Authority, the Annapolis Chamber of Commerce and numerous legislative/spending affordability committees and was a trustee of the Episcopal Ministries to the Aging (Intergrace).  He was a past president of the Columbia Rotary Club and a graduate of the Leadership Howard County Program.  In 1996 he was the Maryland Accountant Advocate of the year and in 1999 he was named one of the top twenty accountants in the state of MD.  Ed received many awards during his lifetime and in 2014 he was awarded an Honorary Degree (Associate of Arts) from Howard Community College in Columbia, MD

A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday from 1-4 pm at Turf Valley Resort.
