Imogene “Jean” Stitz went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 22, 2018. Born Imogene Mae Hennemann on August 10, 1926 to the late Lawrence and Mary Virginia Hennemann of Baltimore, Maryland. She was a graduate of Western High School (Baltimore, MD) in 1944.
Imogene fell in love with and married Melvin D Stitz (deceased) on April 17, 1948 and they were married 61 years. Together they had two children, Donald & Carol and 3 grandchildren, Jennifer, Steven, & Jeremy.
She was a member of the Woodlawn Chapter No. 101 of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as Worthy Matron. She also held the office of Grand Esther for the Grand Chapter of Maryland OES.
As a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Ellicott City she enjoyed fellowship as a member of the Edith Martha Circle and helping with the annual Christmas Fair. Later in life, she enjoyed fellowship as a member of the “Bethany’s Best” and attended the monthly luncheons.
She shared a love of arts and crafts with her husband, Mel and specifically loved counted cross-stitch. They also enjoyed going to Toby’s Dinner Theatre and the high school musical productions.
Jean enjoyed summer trips to the beach with her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She and Mel frequently took bus trips & cruises with friends and loved to play cards, especially Uno.
She is pre-deceased by: her parents, Lawrence & Mary Virginia Hennemann; her husband, Melvin D Stitz (2009); her sisters, Doris Bell (2016) and Hazel Scrivener (2018).
She is survived by: her son, Donald W (Cynthia); her daughter, Carol V (Kenneth); her granddaughter, Jennifer A; her grandsons, Steven J (Sherri) & Jeremy C (Audrey); and many family and friends.
