John "Jake" Thomas McCormick

John Thomas McCormick, Sr. (Jake) passed away on April 25, 2019 at the age of 80 at the Dove House in Carroll County. He was born March 14, 1939 and attended Calvert Hall College in Baltimore and Maryland Institute of Art. Jake was a superintendent in Commercial Construction including many years with John K. Ruff Company in Hunt Valley. He ended his years of employment with James Ancel Company.

Some of his projects include the original Howard Community College and Loyola Library along with many state buildings.

Jake served 8 years in the National Guard along with his brother “Bobby”. He enjoyed hunting and a yearly trip to South Dakota with longtime friends.  

Jake was a devout Catholic and leaves behind Mary P. McCormick (wife); sons J.T. Jr., “Chip” and R. “Scott”; daughter in law Christel; two granddaughters Jordyn Paige and Jala Morgan. Jake was the son of the late Robert J. McCormick and Carolyn Cole McCormick.
