June Anne Harriger

June A. Harriger, 85, passed away Friday morning August 9 at the Gilchrist Hospice Center of Howard County, Maryland holding the hands of her loving husband Keith and daughter Dianne.

June was born April 24, 1934, in Mercer, PA, a daughter of Dr. Glenn and Gladys Strauss.

June was a graduate of Clarion, PA high school and Penn State University. She was a talented homemaker raising three children. Her interests included reading, sewing, crossword puzzles, bridge, watching TV, especially the daytime soaps, Penn State Lions, Baltimore Ravens football and Orioles baseball.

Along with her beloved husband Keith, whom she married June 15, 1956, she is survived by her sister, Joyce L. Garbarino of Ocean Pines, MD, daughter Deborah L. (Scott) Shaffer of Roslyn, PA, son Dennis K. Harriger of Ellicott City, MD, daughter Dianne M. (Tim) Kvech of Woodbine, MD, and grandchildren Kari R.Shaffer, Sarah N. Kvech and Alex T. Kvech.

A private funeral for family is planned with the Rev. Clayton Harriger of Belsano, PA officiating, followed by interment at Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

The family has asked that flowers not be sent and instead for donations to be made in June's memory to the Gilchrist Center of Howard County.
