Louis Cammarata of Ellicott City passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2018. He was 87 years old. Born February 13, 1931 to Luigi Cammarata and Mary Tumenello of Italy. He was one of 10 children.
Louis grew up on East Biddle Street in Baltimore City. He served as a cook in the Army and completed infantry and jump school at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Louis began his career as a chef working in the Lord of Baltimore Hotel, eventually opening his own restaurant, Duke and Lou's Delicatessen. His future wife, Sharon, was the cashier and bookkeeper for the restaurant. Louis and Sharon married in 1966 and and celebrated 45 years of marriage before her passing in 2011.
Louis spent the past several years enjoying laughter and friendship at the Florence Bain 50 + Center in Columbia, Maryland, playing cards, billiards, and spending time with his friends.
Louis is survived by his daughter Maria Lisa and her husband Mark, grandchildren Nicholas and Miranda, brothers Michael and Anthony, many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
