Nadine MacNamee Ammons passed peacefully in her sleep on April 12, 2018. Born Nadine Maurice MacNamee on May 21, 1927 in Philadelphia, Nadine graduated from Auburn University in 1949 with a BS degree. Nadine married Leroy Francis Ammons on August 1, 1954. They had four loving children: Stephen, Kimberley, James, and Matthew. Leroy, Stephen, James, and Matthew are deceased and await Nadine in God's heavenly reward. Nadine is survived by her daughter, Kim, and her other "daughter," Mary Holmes Giorlando.
Nadine was a loving mother and wife, and was involved in the Catholic Women's Group at all of her churches, particularly at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Ellicott City. She was an avid animal lover and dog owner, having bred pugs at one time. She worked, once her children were all in school, as a bacteriologist and medical technician in laboratories and local hospitals. She was a role model for women as a graduate in the sciences. She fought hard for her degree as she was a female student amongst many returning soldiers of World War II at Auburn University.
