Mrs. Patricia Lou Cardno, wonderful wife and mother, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, at her home in Ellicott City, Maryland on March 9, 2019. Born on May 16, 1935 in Flint, Michigan, to the late Eugenia Nelson and the late Paul Nelson, she grew up in the Wisconsin/Michigan area, surrounded by naturally beautiful landscapes. She graduated from Northwestern University in 1956, and was highly regarded during her career as a Registered Nurse. A faithful member of Mt. Hebron Presbyterian Church for forty seven years, she was actively involved, serving as deacon, elder and chairing various committees.
She delighted to lend a hand at thrift stores in the area, restoring toys, dolls and other items as needed. Patricia was known to be a wonderful cook, generously sharing her gift at fellowship hours, pot-lucks, with friends and family. She was a prolific reader and part of the Mt. Hebron Women’s Book Club. Patricia had a keen appreciation for art and antiques, music of many genres and enjoyed writing stories and poems. Patricia's hobbies included all manner of needle crafts, especially knitting. She possessed a quick wit, a clever sense of humor and delightful sweet tooth. She had a truly green thumb and loved walking around her yard and neighborhood with her husband, enjoying the blooms and greenery and finding rabbits in the lawns.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Charles and her grandchild, Sarah d'Eustachio. Patricia is survived and greatly missed by her daughters, Mela Cummins, Cara Lauler, and Krista d'Eustachio; sisters, Barbara Boucher and Bethany Wedin; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish, may donate in Patricia's name to The Children’s Ministry at Mt. Hebron Presbyterian Church. Friends and family members may attend the memorial service on Saturday, May 18th at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Hebron Presbyterian Church, Mt. Hebron Drive, Ellicott City, Maryland.
