Rebecca Young Obituary

On October 22, 1991 in Lake Forest, IL, Rebecca “Bebe” Kanani Young’s incredible smile and boisterous voice entered the world.  On April 20, 2019 in Baltimore, MD, Rebecca passed away with her parents and two older sisters hugging her tightly.  Those fortunate enough to know Rebecca were so much better for it.  She was a strong, beautiful young woman with an infectious smile and wonderful sense of humor, who made a positive and lasting impact on everyone she met.

Rebecca attended Cedar Lane School in Columbia, MD and graduated from the Maryland School for the Blind in Baltimore, MD.  In the years following graduation, Rebecca resided in a home supported by the ARC of Howard County and attended L.I.F.E. Day Program in Baltimore, MD.  Rebecca enjoyed listening to music, spending time outdoors and swimming.

Rebecca is survived by her parents, Kevin and Linda Young, her older sister, Kristen Johnson, brother-in-law, Jacob Johnson, nephews, Rece and Shepard Johnson, her older sister, Erika Hill, brother-in-law, Diego Hill, and nephews, Trent and Trevor Hill.  Her dog Apollo.  And finally, her grandmother and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends that were extended family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Maryland School for the Blind and the ARC of Howard County.  A funeral service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019; 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Ellicott City, MD.  Please consider wearing Rebecca’s favorite color purple with your funeral attire.
