Albert James Wehrle passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2021. Albert was born on November 7, 1945 to Albert A. and Cecelia Wehrle in Cleveland, OH.
After graduating from St. Ignatius High School, he went on to complete his undergraduate degree in History at Wooster College; after which, he achieved a Masters and PhD in Russian at Ohio State University.
Shortly thereafter, he made his way to Baltimore, MD, to teach Russian at Goucher College and Johns Hopkins University; and, ultimately, began a 40-year career with The Department of Defense.
In 1991, he met Jane Wehrle, and they wed in 1992.
After retiring, he spent his time reading, caring for beloved pets, and hiking the trails of his 15-acre mountain retreat in Garrett County, Maryland.
Albert is survived by his wife, Jane Gregg Wehrle; children, Ashley Spears and Janet Wehrle; and grandchild, Summer Rose Spears; brother, David Wehrle. He is predeceased by his sister, Linda Gulden.
Family will receive friends at the HARRY H. WITZKE’S FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City on Thursday, July 15, from 3 - 5pm and 7 - 9pm where a memorial service will be held on Friday, July 16, at 11am.
