ALICE ROSE MAZMANIAN (née Balian), 87, of Woodstock, Maryland (previously Ellicott City, Maryland) passed away peacefully on March 23rd, 2020. She was the beloved mother of Nicole and Paul Mazmanian, dear wife of the late Harold Paul Mazmanian, whom she was married to for 49 years, and loving sister of Arthur Balian and the late Katherine Balian Haytayan. Born November 1st, 1932, Alice was the daughter of James and Rose Balian. She grew up in a loving home in Dorchester, Massachusetts. She attended Dorchester High School for Girls and Boston Clerical School. She worked at the Codman Square Library in Dorchester; Boston Public Welfare Department in Grove Hall, Roxbury; and Baird Atomic, in Harvard Square, Cambridge. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Armenian Church in Cambridge, Massachusetts and the Armenian Church Youth Organization (ACYOA).
After marrying and moving to Maryland, Alice worked at the Social Security Administration and Howard County Library where she also volunteered teaching reading and writing through the Howard County Library System Literacy Program. She loved spending time with family and traveling, including trips to France, Italy, United Kingdom, Canada, the Caribbean and Hawaii. She was an avid reader, and also enjoyed cooking and shopping.
In addition to her children, she also leaves behind several beloved nieces and nephews.
