Anna Jane McDaniel

Anna Jane McDaniel passed away at the age of 91 on January 5, 2025, in Columbia, Maryland. She was the beloved daughter of George and Phrona Coulson, of Grafton, West Virginia.

Jane was born on September 3, 1933. She was chosen to be prom queen at Grafton High School. Jane graduated in 1951 and married Carl Vance McDaniel in 1952. She attended the Pennsylvania College for Women.

Jane and Vance had two children, Janet and Keith. The family lived in Pittsburgh, Boston, and Dallas, before moving to Laurel, Maryland in 1962. They attended Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Highland, Maryland.

Jane loved Anna Maria Island, small animals, Christmastime in New York City, big family gatherings, and summers by her swimming pool. Jane thrived as a fun, sociable mother to her children. She made a warm and welcoming home where teenagers gathered for pre-dance dinners, homework, music, lawn sports, and summer swimming. She was an attentive grandmother to her seven grandchildren. Her indomitable spirit and fortitude will be greatly missed.

Jane is survived by her two children, Janet Kay Reeder (John) and Keith Kent McDaniel (Linda); her seven grandchildren, Jill, Emily, Timothy, Nicole, Grant, Kyle, and Ellen; and her four great-grandchildren, Kurt, Marla, Maddox, and Vance.

Family will receive friends at the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Highland on Friday, January 10, 2025, from 10-11am; where a service will begin at 11am. Interment following in the church cemetery.
