Anne M. Ackerman, age 84, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at her Ellicott City home. She was the wife of the late Charles T Ackerman.
Anne was born on March 11,1940 to Anna and Frederick Manning of Boston Massachusetts. She is survived by her children, Malia Muenning (Philip), Chau Ackerman, Chanh Ackerman, Elizabeth Ackerman, Margaret Ackerman, Cynthia Ackerman, and Herbert Ackerman. Anne was predeceased by her daughter Maria.
Anne attended Boston College where she launched her life long love of nursing, followed by a Masters degree in Nursing from Catholic University.
While living in Tennessee, Anne loved teaching classes in a two year nursing program. Anne’s career took her to numerous positions in nursing, concentrating on cardiovascular disease. Her patient care was influenced by Bernard Laun, MD of Harvard. Her career positions included the University of Maryland School of Nursing and Johns Hopkins School of Health Services. Anne was an active member of St John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Columbia MD, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Her primary charity work focused on Michael’s House which served the destitute elderly in Africa and South America.
Anne loved to travel, was passionate about sharing her faith, and treasured the time she spent with friends and family. She will be greatly missed.
