Anne Rohman Brusca of Columbia, MD died on December 28, 2020. She was 86 years old. Born in Washington, DC, she was educated at Holy Comforter School and St. Cecilia's Academy. At the age of 18, she came to Baltimore to study nursing at St. Agnes Hospital School of Nursing but dropped out of the nursing program a year later to get married. At that time, many nursing programs did not allow married students. In 1954, she married Frank Brusca at Holy Comforter Church in DC. Hoping to begin a family soon after marriage, she and her husband took in three brothers who were foster children from Catholic Charities in Baltimore. In 1956, the first of their five children were born. In 1957, she moved to Denver, Colorado when her husband was transferred there with the Martin Aircraft Company. Between 1956 and 1963, they moved back and forth between Baltimore and Denver four times, eventually settling in Randallstown, MD until 1995. In 1971, Anne decided to pursue a college degree. She earned an AA degree from Catonsville Community College, a BA from UMBC, and an MSW from UMAB. Her field of study was social work, and after internships at Baltimore City Dept. of Social Services and the Maryland School for the Deaf, she spent her entire working career at Springfield Hospital Center in Sykesville, MD. Upon retirement, she and Frank moved to Columbia, MD where she was active in community work with the Office on Aging, the Bain Senior Center, and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Parish.
Anne was most proud of her family and is preceded by her late husband Frank of 60 plus years. She is survived by their five children: Frank X. Brusca (Katherine Canada), Raymond J. Brusca (Laura), Angela Brusca Michel (Thomas), Kathleen (Kaki) Brusca Wynn (Patrick), Stephen A Brusca (Gina); her daughter-in-law Nancy Brusca; and ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Due to the pandemic, all funeral services will be private. A link to live stream the mass will be made available as soon as possible. The family requests that memorial donations be made to The Alzheimers Association or a charity of your choice.
