Barbara Berge Obituary

Barbara Ann Berge, 86, passed away peacefully at home in Sykesville, Maryland on Sunday, June 16th, with her son Michael and his partner Angela, at her side. She was born on August 4th, 1937, in Nashville, North Carolina to Cicero Allen Sears and Nannie May Jennings. 

After graduating from high school, she moved to Rhode Island and married Philip Berge. They would go on to have five children together: Carol, Diane, Edward, Kenneth, and Michael. Her time was filled with using her skills in the arts, a love for baking, using her genius for interior decorating, and projects utilizing her creativity. As her children grew older, she continued to partner with them on projects to enrich their lives. 

Barbara is survived by her five children, Carol Wilson, and children Samantha and Adam; Diane Berge Manos, husband Michael, and daughter Grace; Edward Berge, wife Melanie, and son Gregory; Kenneth Berge; and Michael Berge, partner Angela, and their daughter Logyn. She is predeceased by her devoted husband, Philip Berge to whom she was married for 67 years; as well as her loving son-in-law, Samuel Wilson, beloved husband of Carol Wilson and cherished father of Samantha and Adam. 

Barbara will be remembered as a genuine, kind, loving child of God. She will be greatly missed by all. 

The family will receive friends at Harry H. Witzke’s Family Funeral Home, 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, on Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 10am – 12pm, with a service at 12pm. Interment will follow in Columbia Memorial Park.
