Barbara Lynn Rieve, beloved wife of Theodore Bernard Rieve, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 3, 2025, at her home in Ellicott City, Maryland.
Born to the late Frank W. Jeskulski and Frances Novotny Jeskulski, Barbara was raised in Riviera Beach and later in Ellicott City. She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Jeskulski.
A proud graduate of the Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore, Class of 1961, Barbara returned to her studies later in life and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business from The Johns Hopkins University in 1994. During her time at Hopkins, she served as President of the Delta Sigma Pi business fraternity, was inducted into the Alpha Sigma Lambda honor society, and participated in the Johns Hopkins Host Family Program, welcoming and supporting international students.
Barbara led a life marked by curiosity, compassion, and commitment. Her professional journey was varied and spirited—she began as a travel agent, later embraced entrepreneurial roles selling copper and crystal home goods, and dedicated time to supporting women through her work with the American Cancer Society and Reach to Recovery. She held multiple positions at The Johns Hopkins University Hospital and ultimately retired from Little Sisters of the Poor, where her care for others found a fitting home.
Deeply rooted in her faith and community, Barbara was a longtime member of the Church of the Resurrection in Ellicott City. She was especially devoted to the parish’s Adopt-a-Family program, which she faithfully coordinated each season to bring food and gifts to families in need across three inner-city parishes.
Barbara is survived by her devoted husband, Ted; her daughter, Rebecca; her son-in-law, John; her nephews, Kurt and Todd Jeskulski; and niece, Kristen (née Jeskulski) Jacobs.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Barbara’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
