Benjamin Coburn, III Obituary

Benjamin Huntington Coburn III, 71, of Ellicott City, Maryland, passed away on April 14th, 2022, after a courageous battle with dementia.

Ben was born on October 26th, 1950, to Benjamin Huntington Coburn, II and Mary Ruth Coburn (Frankhouser) in Baltimore, MD. After graduating from City College in Baltimore, he went on to study accounting at Loyola College of Maryland.

After graduation, Ben started a career as a Certified Public Accountant going on to launch his own successful practice for 30 years.

In 1968, he met his soulmate Patricia Mary Surdyka, and they wed in 1972 going on to have 3 children, Derek Huntington, Jason Michael, and Patricia Jeanette.

Ben and Pat were together for over 50 years creating a family built on love, happiness and compassion.

Ben enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, watching the Orioles and Capitals, and finding ways to make his family happy and never missing a sporting event for his kids!

Ben is survived by his wife Pat; his 3 children Derek, Jason, and Tricia; his 2 daughter in laws Melanie (Treanor), Meredith (Applebaum); and son in law Dan (Heck).  His legacy will be mostly remembered by his 4 beloved grandsons: Dexter Huntington Coburn, Chase Parker Coburn, Caleb Jaxon Coburn, and Jackson Thomas Heck.

Family will receive friends at the Harry H. Witzke’s Family Funeral Home, 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, from 3-5 & 7-9pm; where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2022, beginning at 11am. Click HERE to view the service.
