Benjamin Franklin Cooper Lubbehusen, Jr., 88 of Columbia MD peacefully passed away on 4/12/22.
Ben was born on December 17, 1933 to Ben Sr. and Pauline (Reed) Lubbehusen in Baltimore MD. After graduating from Calvert Hall HS in 1952, he went on to study Business at Loyola College, Baltimore MD and went on to become an accountant for General Electric.
Growing up in Baltimore, he married his best friend’s sister, Pat Driesch on June 17th 1961. They took up residence on Loch Shield Road in Towson, where they adopted three children from Associated Catholic Charities of Baltimore – Julie, Katie and Ben.
In 1968, they moved to the suburbs, to the diverse new community known as Columbia. They continued to raise their kids there and still live in their Longfellow home.
In the summer 1983, he and his wife opened a family daycare. Where he became “Uncle Ben” to numerous children. Some of these children are still in their lives.
He is survived by his loving wife, Pat (nee Dreisch), of 61 years. Daughters Julie Novak (Steve) of Eldersburg, MD, Kate Lamey (Lisa) of Florida, and son Ben Lubbehusen III (Toni), of Woodstock, MD. Along with (8) Grandchildren, Heather Ruane (Brian), Jordan Crouse (Bobby), Taryn Cleary (Pat), Jake, Jacey and Luke Lubbehusen, and Griffen and Logan Lamey. They are also blessed with 7 Great Grandchildren, Mitchil Barrick, Conor, Braeden, Finn and Grayson Ruane, Kelsi Staley and Harley Johnson.
Ben was pre-deased by his parents Benj. F.C.,Sr and Pauline Lubbehusen, his sister Catherine Gottleib and brother Leonard Lubbehusen.
