Beverly Kenyon Barnes, 88, beloved wife of Robert T. Barnes, passed away on March 7, 2025, at Charter Memory Care in Columbia, MD.
Beverly was born on September 21, 1936, to Harold and Dorothy Kenyon, in Manchester, Iowa. After graduation, Beverly travelled extensively living in Germany, New York, Alabama, Michigan, New Jersey, and the Marshall Islands and raising three daughters: Deborah, Barbara, and Julie. Beverly was an exceptional administrative assistant working in Culpeper, Virginia, at Environmental Systems Services, and in Columbia, Maryland for Singer Corporation and General Physics. She was known for her efficiency, reliability, and accuracy.
In 1985, Beverly married Robert Barnes. They enjoyed many happy years together travelling, holding hands, and walking on the beach. She delighted in entertaining friends and family. She was a generous and gracious hostess, thoughtful and considerate of everyone. Beverly was a loyal and devoted friend active in water aerobics, women’s golf, wine club, and Red Hat Ladies. She made friends wherever she went.
Beverly enjoyed planning trips, shopping, cooking, gardening, music, and golfing. Her family and friends will cherish memories of her cooking skills including champagne brunches, chocolate trifle, and delicious appetizers.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Barnes, her daughters Deborah Amador (Jaime), Barbara Smith (Charles), Julie Jones (Ronald), and her stepdaughters Sally Ireland (Rodney) and Susan Barnes (Randy) along with ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren, and a beloved sister-in-law, Lois DeLoatche. Beverly was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Dorothy Kenyon, her brother Richard Kenyon, and a grandson, Joshua Jones.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday, March 18th from 4-7pm at HARRY H. WITZKE'S FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21043. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 19th at 10am. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Jeffersonton, VA.
