Carole Beglan Obituary

Carole Marthe Beglan, a beacon of love and generosity, passed away on October 9, 2024, at the age of 87, at Gilchrist hospice in Columbia, MD, due to complications from lung cancer. Born on June 2, 1937, in the Bronx, New York to the late Henry and Marthe Ahrens. Carole lived her life with unwavering faith and an open heart that touched all who knew her. Her mother Marthe was born in Alsace region of France. Carole was proud of her French heritage and dual citizenship (via jus soli).

Carole's formative years were spent in Bronx, New York, where she graduated from Cathedral High School. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to the College of New Rochelle, where she furthered her education, laying a foundation for the wisdom she would share with her family and community. Carole's life was one of devotion, not only to her loved ones but also to the various roles she embraced with enthusiasm. As a homemaker, Carole created a warm and welcoming home that became the heart of family life. Her time included work as a cashier at home improvement stores and managing a newspaper delivery service, roles in which she was known for her diligence and friendly demeanor.

Carole was married to her late husband, Joe, in 1957, they began their married lives stationed at Harlingen Air Force Base in Texas. The culture shock was daunting for the New York couple. In 1958 they were stationed at Keesler Airforce base in Biloxi, MS where their first son, Joseph was born. Stationed next in Columbia, SC, Shaw Airforce base then on to Laurel, MD where their second son was born, Philip. Joe moved to the Airforce reserves and private sector work at Westinghouse. In 1963 they moved to Woodlawn, MD where they had 2 more sons, Thomas & Eric. Together Carole and Joe raised a family and are survived by her four sons; Joseph A. Beglan married to Lois of Ellicott City, Philip A. Beglan married to Carol of Eldersburg, Thomas M. Beglan married to Rachel of Frederick and Eric G. Beglan of Pikesville. She will be greatly missed by her 4 grandchildren; Casie, Joshua, Rose and Alex Beglan. Carole is also survived by her brother Philip Ahrens his wife Margie and son Philip.

Carole's interests reflected her zest for life and intellectual curiosity. She was an avid fan of tennis and Olympic skating, reveling in the grace and athleticism of the sports. Crossword puzzles were a daily joy, a testament to her sharp mind and love for a good challenge. These simple pleasures brought great joy to Carole and revealed her appreciation for the diverse beauty of life's tapestry.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Carole understood her to be the epitome of a loving, generous, and faith-filled soul. Her unwavering support and kindness were the pillars upon which her family thrived. Carole's ability to see the good in people and situations, her steadfast faith that guided her through life's ups and downs, and her generosity that knew no bounds are the legacies she leaves behind.

Carole's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of family. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories and laughter shared amongst those she loved. A life so beautifully lived deserves to be beautifully remembered, and Carole Marthe Beglan will be missed deeply by all who had the honor of crossing her path.

As we bid farewell to Carole, we celebrate the remarkable woman she was and the countless lives she touched with her kindness. Her spirit will continue to inspire us, and her memory will be a comforting presence during times of sorrow and joy. Carole Marthe Beglan's journey on earth has ended, but her legacy of love and generosity will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
