Carroll Bane Kelley

Carroll “Bane” Kelley, 92, of Howard County, MD, passed away on August 12, 2023
after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
Bane was born on August 7, 1931 in Botetourt County, Virginia, to Emma Cook and
William Edward Kelley. After graduating from Jordan High School, Columbus, Ga in
1948 he enlisted in the Army.
He became a radioman and served in Korea during the Korean War. After being
honorably discharged he went on to work for NSA as a cold war analyst where he was
posted in Japan and Germany.
In June of 1953 married Sandra “Pat” Johnston. They had known each other since
grade school and have recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
After a long illustrious career with NSA, Fort Meade, MD., Bane dedicated his time to
many volunteer activities. Those included meals on wheel, taking neighbors to doctor’s
appointments and most of all helping Pat with the Pregnancy Center. Also, spending
time with his 5 grandchildren.
Bane is survived by his wife Pat, daughter Teresa, sons Steven and Christopher, along
with his grandchildren, Kayleigh, Richard, Chelsea, Camden, Riley, Bridget and great
grandchildren, Zane and Eli.
