Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christopher Steven Gallert of Woodstock, MD.  He died at the age of 51 on August 9, 2022.  Chris passed away peacefully in his sleep.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward A. and Shirley (nee Vaughan) Gallert; sister, Mary Noel Gallert; uncles, Preston Grammer and Robert Eugene Vaughan; and aunt, Anna Mae (nee Gallert) Van Doren.

Chris was born and raised in Vicksburg, Mississippi with many road trips to North Carolina and New York to visit his extended family.  He served four years in the US Army after graduating from the University of Virginia.  Chris enjoyed cooking southern food, listening to his albums and going to concerts with family and friends.  And of course he was a big UVA fan!

Chris is survived by his wife, Stephanie Gardner Gallert; his children, Vincent, Nathan and Caitlyn; brother Robert Gallert (Lara) and aunt Becky Vaughan Grammer.  He left behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and friends that loved him deeply.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Chris's memory to American Diabetes Association at https://diabetes.org/?form=Donate or Boy Scouts of America at  https://www.scouting.org/
