David Lawrence Rhude

On Sunday, July 14, 2019, David L Rhude, beloved husband of Ellen F. Rhude and father of Brian A. Rhude, passed away at the age of 65 from complications from a fall he suffered in December of 2018.

David was born on July 3, 1954 in Gulfport, MS to Col. Donald and Virginia (Roberts) Rhude. He received his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Purdue University in 1978 and his master’s degree in business from Central Michigan University in 1983 and worked for the NSA (National Security Agency) for over 40 years in Maryland. On September 14, 1980, he married Ellen Fyffe. They raised one son, Brian.

David loved to travel with his family and friends. He enjoyed finance and politics and could often be found reading a book on personal finance or watching political talk shows on TV. David was a passionate fan of the Baltimore Ravens and the Purdue University football and basketball teams. David is remembered for his kindness, his distinct perseverance, and his love for his family and friends.

David was preceded in death by his father, Donald, and his mother, Virginia. He is survived by his wife Ellen and his son Brian.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 24th, 2019 at Harry H Witzke’s Family Funeral Home on Old Columbia Pike at 7 o’clock p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation at 8301 Professional Place West, Suite 230, Landover, MD 20785.
