David Oliver Sloan Sr., age 74, of Ellicott City, MD passed away after a relentless battle with Stage IV Lung Cancer on May 3, 2020. Born December 25, 1945 in Baltimore, Maryland to Mary E. Sloan (nee LaBelle) and John Sloan, both previously deceased. Dave was a devoted Husband to his loving wife of more than 50 years Betty Sloan (nee Ross), and devoted father to Erin K. Sloan and David O. Sloan Jr., daughter-in-law Kyle Sloan, beloved grandchildren Connor and Vivian Sloan; Sister Donna Brown (R. Mitchel). As well as numerous sister and brother-in-law’s, on Betty’s side. He will be missed by his nieces and nephews, as well as his many friends.
He was a fantastic baker, much to the delight of his wife and also loved gardening. He was proud of his military service in the Army. He was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 42 years and developed many lifelong friends through the program. He was Regional Vice President of Fixed Operations, East Coast for Toyota for 25 years and earlier worked for Montgomery Wards for 25 years. He retired from Toyota in January 2009. After retirement, he and Betty traveled extensively overseas.
