Denise Darcel Thurmond, a loving, thoughtful, and faith-filled servant of God, was born on July 4, 1960, in Newark, New Jersey, and entered eternal rest on May 27, 2026, in Columbia, Maryland. She lived her life with grace, humility, and an unwavering Christian faith that guided her path and blessed all who knew her. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, her beautiful spirit and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Denise’s life was a reflection of God’s goodness. She carried herself with kindness, spoke with gentleness, and loved deeply. Her faith was not merely professed but demonstrated daily through her actions, compassion, and devotion to others. She found great joy in worship and fellowship and drew strength from her personal relationship with God. Her presence brought comfort to many, and her life served as a quiet yet powerful testimony of faith, love, and service.
She was born to Examenia and Aaron Columbus Thurmond Sr., who laid the foundation for the values and faith that guided her life. Denise held her family close to her heart and cherished each relationship deeply. She leaves to celebrate her life and honor her memory her beloved son, Samuel Lee Robinson III, and her daughter, Tammy E. Cross. She was a devoted and proud grandmother to Najah M. Robinson and Elijah C. Cross, finding immense joy and fulfillment in their lives. Her love for her children and grandchildren was steadfast, and she was a constant source of encouragement, strength, and unconditional love.
Denise is also survived by her siblings: Garland Thurmond; Julia Brown and her husband, Charles Brown (deceased); Michelle Baldwin and her husband, Tony Baldwin; Aaron Thurmond Jr. and his wife, Angel Thurmond; Lynn Thompson; Francis Thurmond and Kevin D. Thurmond (preceded in death). She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her warmth and loving spirit. The bonds she shared with her family were deeply meaningful, and her memory will remain a treasured part of their lives for generations to come.
