Dimitrios “James” Kinigopoulos, 75, of Elkridge passed away July 3. He was born 8/15/44 to George Kinigopoulos and Zografa Kinigopoulos, in Nea Kios Argos, Greece. He came to the U.S. in 1964, where he worked and owned various restaurants. He eventually started his own produce wholesale business.
He enjoyed running and walking, especially at Ft. McHenry and Centennial Park, joining in soccer games, playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and talking with people at the coffee shop. Dimitri’s life was comprised of rich experiences that he liked to remember through his colorful storytelling.
He is survived by his children Zoe Michal, Anna Kinigopoulos, Zografa (Afa) Kinigopoulos Lott, Maia Kinigopoulos, and George Kinigopoulos; grandchildren Anna Meushaw, James Lott, Olivia and Noah Michal; great grandchildren Cadence and Lincoln Meushaw; sisters Maria Gaitanou, Ermioni Topaltzas, and Seva Chomatopoulos. He was preceded in death by his brother Steve Kinigopoulos and sister Despina Papadimas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m Tuesday, July 14 at the Greek Orthodox Cemetery, 5917 Windsor Mill Rd., Gwynn Oak, MD 21207.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be taken to dedicate a water filling station in his name in Centennial Park. Donation details are listed below.
