Donald William Sadler, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cherished friend, left this world on September 28, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on July 16, 1942, in Brooklyn, NY, Donald's journey led him to a life rich in family and joy, which he cherished until his peaceful passing in Ellicott City, MD.
A devoted family man, Donald's heart was always fullest when surrounded by his loved ones. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 53 years, Sharon Sadler, who stood by him as a partner in every sense of the word. His legacy continues through his children, Kirsten Matthiesen and her husband Todd, Michael Sadler and his wife Margie, and his adored grandchildren Tyler, Riley, Gavin, and Andrew, who brought immeasurable joy to his life. He was a cherished brother to Jan Czech and her husband Dick, a respected uncle to Eric Czech, his wife Ali, and their children James and William, as well as sister in law Pam Adams and her husband Mike, and their children Adam, Katharine, and Anna all of whom will miss his guiding presence. He is predeceased by his parents William and Evelyn Sadler and his niece, Jackie Czech.
An alumnus of The University of Connecticut, Donald's academic journey laid the foundation for his illustrious career. He further honed his expertise at the University of Maryland, where he continued his graduate studies. His professional life was marked by dedication and excellence as he ascended to the Senior Executive Service (SES) and served as the Executive Resources Director at The Environmental Protection Agency. His work left an indelible impact on environmental stewardship, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and the community alike.
Donald's zest for life extended beyond his professional achievements. An avid golfer, he spent countless hours on the greens, reveling in the camaraderie of the game and the beauty of nature. His passion for sports was not limited to the fairways; he was an enthusiastic supporter of the Baltimore Ravens and the Orioles, finding joy and excitement in every play. He also loved watching his children and grandchildren play all of their sports throughout the years. Donald's love for travel took him and Sharon to numerous destinations, creating memories that they would fondly recount to friends and family.
As we say goodbye to Donald William Sadler, we celebrate a life well-lived, filled with purpose, joy, and an abundance of love. His passing leaves a void in our hearts, but we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will forever be a guiding light in our lives.
In honor of Donald's life, a celebration of life will be held to commemorate his journey and the memories we carry forward. The family extends an invitation to all who knew and loved him to join in celebrating the remarkable man Donald was, and the enduring love he shared with each of us. The celebration will be held on Saturday October 5th from 2:30pm-5:30pm at Alexandra’s Restaurant at Turf Valley Resort. Feel free to stop by during these hours to share your favorite stories and moments. Hors D’ Oeuvres and drinks will be served.
