Doris May Kraus

Doris May Kraus, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, October 8, 2020.

She was the daughter of Paul and Ruth Lawson, wife of George Kraus, and survived by children Mark and Janice, as well as four grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was 97 years young.

Doris was an avid reader. She also enjoyed doing puzzles, and writing - specifically poetry. She was skilled in crocheting. She often made afghans for family and friends, and as donations for a crises pregnancy center.

Doris was a great encourager and always kept family and friends in her prayers. She enjoyed visits from her grandchildren, and when they were young would always play fun and creative games with them.

Years ago, she taught Sunday school and Pioneer Girls, and more recently volunteered by providing childcare for her church’s Conversational English Class program.

One of her son’s fond memories is of Doris reading Bible passages to him before going to school. Even recently, if he started quoting Psalm 23, she could finish saying it by memory.

Her daughter remembers Doris as a forgiving person. She made a point of never holding an offense against another. She always supported her husband and children in any endeavor.

She will be greatly missed. There will a service on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Harry H. Witzke’s Family Funeral Home, but due to COVID-19, attendance will be limited. Please contact the family if you’d like to attend the service.
