Dorothy (Dottie) May Benner, 96, of Randallstown, Maryland passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 19, 2026.
She was the daughter of Walter Warner Suffecool and Margaret O’Leary Suffecool of Big Springs, Maryland, now deceased. She is survived by son Stephen Benner and his finance Deborah Clendening, and son Dean Lee Benner; siblings Walter Suffecool of Williamsport MD, William and Rosalyn Suffecool of Williamsport MD, Shirley Rager of Hagerstown MD, Ralph and Beverly Jean Suffecool of Keyser WV, June and Robert Bittinger of Easton MD, Gary and Gail Suffecool of Penn Laird VA. She was predeceased by sister Jane Higgins; grandchildren Michael Woods, Zach Benner, Sean Benner; great-grandchildren Jassmine Woods and Winnie Woods; and several nieces and nephews.
Dottie devoted her early adult life to raising her two sons. When the children were older, she began her career at Camp;P Telephone Company in Baltimore, MD as a customer representative. She made three very close friends there, one of which she remained friends with until her passing, Dotty Staley. Mrs. Staley remembers Dottie “As a person you always wanted to be around. When she got a part of your heart she kept it forever.” Dottie later went to work for the Howard County Public School System as a health aide. She was considered a tremendous asset to the schools she served in and was loved by the staff, parents, and students.
Dottie has been a member of Bethel Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She loved her church family and any time she was asked to help in an area she said yes with a smile. Before her illness began, her last volunteer job at Bethel was as a Greeter. On Sunday mornings she welcomed all who came to church with a smile and a big hug, young and old alike.
Dottie lived her life in service to the Lord. As much as we miss her, our hearts are filled with joy that she is home with Jesus.
