Dylan Thomas Lawn, beloved son and brother passed on June 22, 2024 leaving behind a large, loving and heartbroken family.
Dylan had a joyful & happy childhood. Most days were spent with lots of laughter and boisterous activity with his older brother Kyle. Turning the family room into a large train track area, building forts with sofa cushions, laughing together while watching SpongeBob and wrestling with Dad were all part of fun daily moments. So was building elaborate Lego buildings and helping Mom bake cookies while standing on a chair at the kitchen island. Many long stretches of summer days were spent at Grammy & Pop Pop’s house where the boys were spoiled with Grammy’s treats and taken to oddities like the Pasadena flea market with PopPop.
There were also many vacations spent at Bethany Beach where Dylan loved playing in the sand and running in the water. Many evenings were often spent with Kyle & Dylan chasing each other through the large maze at Funland on the Rehobeth boardwalk, laughing & giggling as they squeezed through each area. More recently, Dylan experienced the beauty of Costa Rica & Belize on family trips.
Dylan was an avid reader & writer and would spend hours lost in adventurous fiction. A grade school teacher noted his writing ability at an early age when he was given a one page assignment & then turned in almost ten pages filled with a descriptive story that began ‘The sky was angry that night…’. He was an honor roll student and accepted to several colleges including UMD at College Park. He enjoyed swimming on the local community swim team and loved playing the guitar. A devotee of older & eclectic music, he would often shop for vintage vinyl records to play on an old school record player. Dylan was a true free spirit and lived life to the beat of his heart, unconcerned about societies current norms. Recently, Dylan & Grammy had lunch and then got matching rose tattoos.
Dylan wanted us to move on gracefully. That’s not going to be possible because he was such a special person to so many people. Every time we hear a child’s full laughter, we’ll think of him running around the house with his big smile. Every time we see a family pet, we’ll think about how kind, gentle & loving he was with animals and how all our pets always wanted to curl up with him. Every morning when the sun rises, we’ll see his beautiful smile shining down on us, basking in the glow of our sweet loving boy.
We all love & miss you so much.
