Elaine W. Stewart

Elaine Weldy Stewart, wife of the late Robert D. Stewart, died peacefully on Wednesday morning, December 15, 2021 at Gilchrist Hospice in Columbia, MD.

 She was the daughter of Ethlyn and Homer Weldy of McLain, MS, now deceased. She is survived by a brother, Henry Weldy (Cheryl). She was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Riffel.

Elaine graduated from McLain High School and Chilicothe College after which she joined the Veteran’s Department where she served as a legal secretary for several years. In 1970, Elaine became a real estate agent in the Burtonsville, MD, area, and she remained employed in that field until shortly before her death. She was a long-time member of Liberty Grove United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years.

She is survived by a daughter, Mimi Stewart Cross; a son Randall Stewart; a son Robert Stewart and daughter-in-law Melinda; grandchildren Brandon Stewart, Allison Grace, Amanda Stewart, Victoria McCamon, Wesley Stewart, Trevor Stewart, Valerie Stewart, and Blake Stewart; as well as a great-granddaughter Violet Burgess.
