Elinor Carole Santor, 91, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24, 2025.
She was born in Plattsburgh on June 3rd, 1934 the daughter of Leeward and Janet (Dow) Santor.
Elinor grew up in South Plattsburgh and attended Plattsburgh High School. She continued her education at Plattsburgh State where she graduated as the High Honor student with a degree in Elementary Education. Elinor taught school in Northport Long Island and subsequently attended the University of Maryland where she received her PHD in Education. She went on to become a professor at Coppin College until her retirement in 2004. Elinor was a lifelong learner, an avid reader, and loved to travel and meet new people.
She was predeceased by her father, Leeward Santor; mother, Janet (Dow) Santor; brother, Robert Santor; nieces, Karen (Santor) Donoghue and Janet (Santor) Shanley; and nephew, Todd Cameron Henry.
Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Marilyn (Santor) Henry; nephew, Mark Henry and his wife Deborah; great-nephews, Kyle Henry, Kurtis Henry, Shayne Donoghue and his father John; and very special friends, Regina Cody and Kris Byrnes; and numerous other family and friends in both New York and Maryland.
