Florence Ann Conroy

Florence Ann Conroy, wife of the late Peter J. Conroy, died peacefully on July 15, 2021 at Bridging Life Hospice in Randallstown, Maryland.

She was the daughter of Truman and Edythe Clough, both deceased, of Penn Hills, Pennsylvania.

Florence graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1957. She attended Penn State University in State College, PA, where she met Peter J. Conroy of Greensburg, Pennsylvania. They wed on September 12, 1959 and were married for 38 years. 

Florence earned an Associate of Arts degree in Library Science from Mesa Community College in Mesa, Arizona and worked for Scottsdale Public Schools in Scottsdale, Arizona.

In 1983 Florence and Peter relocated with their son from Scottsdale, Arizona to Clarksville, Maryland, where she lived until her death.

Florence loved flowers and gardening and was an active member of a local gardening club for many years. She adored dogs and had many Springer Spaniels throughout her life.

An avid nature lover, she enjoyed watching from her porch the blue birds that returned each year to raise their young.

She was a history buff and loved to travel. Early in her marriage she lived in Germany with her family, where she toured Europe with her husband and two daughters. Later in life she toured Italy.

Florence was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her older brother Truman Clough and pre-deceased by younger brother Roger Clough

She is also survived by her daughter Valerie Freeman and son-in-law Michael Freeman, daughter Sharon Conroy, son Peter Conroy and his children Anna, Peter Sean, and Autumn Conroy.
