F. DeSales (Connolly) Lacy of Ellicott City, MD passed away Friday, June 13, 2025, after a three-year battle with cancer. DeSales was born in Baltimore, MD to the late Charles J. and Margaret R. (Johnson) Connolly on September 8,1956. DeSales was the 4th of 5 children. She grew up in Loch Raven village located in Towson.
DeSales attended elementary school at Immaculate Heart of Mary in Towson and in 1974 was a member of the first graduating class from Loch Raven Senior High School in Towson. DeSales was a National Merit Scholarship winner and completed her bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia.
After graduation, DeSales went to work for C&P Telephone Company of Maryland. She retired from the telephone company after 33 years of service. In retirement, she worked several years for Project Literacy, helping immigrants learn english.
DeSales loved to read and cherished time spent with her family and friends. DeSales was devoted to the care of her father in the last years of his life.
DeSales is survived by her devoted husband, David McAvoy, of 23 years and her loving son Ryan Lacy (Raelyn) of Towson. She is also survived by her siblings, Kevin Connolly (Cindy) of Germantown, Susan Cihak (Michael), of Ellicott City, Brian Connolly (Mary) of Shady Side, and Brendan Connolly (Sharon) of Waunakee, WI. DeSales is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews.
