Frankie Clifton Obituary

Frankie Don Clifton, 80, most recently of Catonsville MD, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Monday, October 16, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease & Multiple Myeloma.

Don was born in Williamsburg VA, October 28, 1942 to Cleo & Oma Clifton. He was raised in Idabel OK, graduating high school in 1960. After graduating high school Don worked on the pipeline before enlisting in the Army in 1963. 

After being stationed and working around the world as a Polygraph examiner and Army Intelligence Officer, he met the love of his life Kathy while living in Northern VA. 

Don and Kathy were married June 26, 1971. Don finished his bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland that same year. Shortly after they moved to Germany for the first time, where they would go on to have many adventures around Europe with friends and family. Moving back to the States they welcomed their daughter Brooke in 1978.One more brief move would take the family of three to Munich Germany for four years. 

After returning to the States, Don worked on Ft. Meade for the remainder of his career. 

He retired from active duty in 1997 as a Master Warrant Officer CW5. 

After retiring Don and Kathy moved to Bluffton SC.He volunteered with the Red Cross and enjoyed golfing in and around Bluffton and Hilton Head Island. Finally getting his Hole In One on their home course in their community. Woodworking was a renewed passion that he loved. Building a much treasured toy box for Ryan and Logan. Don and Kathy traveled up and down the east coast to visit family and friends and cross country to visit Don’s cousins.

He is survived by his Daughter Brooke, son in law Kevin & his grandsons Ryan and Logan. 

Don was predeceased by his beloved wife Kathy.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
