Gabriel Carlos Núñez
March 13, 1940 — February 28, 2026
We say goodbye to our beloved husband, father, and grandfather today. Gabriel was born in Ecuador and spent most of his life in the Maryland/Washington DC area. He served dutifully in the U.S. Army and later became a citizen of the United States. He worked hard to provide for his family for many years in Wheaton, and enjoyed his retirement years in Ellicott City.
He was happy when playing tennis or Ecuadorian volleyball, taking walks, spending time with his children and grandchildren, watching football, and doing word searches with his wife, Sandy. Gabriel was always keen to help others and often did so with creativity and focus. He was eager to play tour guide when friends and family visited the DC area. He enjoyed many years of performing carpentry, especially working on his lifelong project of a dollhouse. He loved to travel and to take weekend drives with his family. We take comfort in knowing he is now at peace, resting gently in God’s loving arms.
Gabriel is lovingly remembered by his wife, Sandy, his children, Alexander (and wife, Heather) and Ana Maria (and husband, Tim); and his grandchildren, Mara, Colleen, and Locke. His legacy of strength, honesty, a strong work ethic, and adventure lives on in all of them.
Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers as we mourn his passing and celebrate the life he lived.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association
