George Farfaras of Dayton Maryland died on Thursday, 14 March 2019. He was 87.
Born June 6, 1931, in Lawrence Massachusetts, George Farfaras enlisted for an active duty tour with the Air Force from 1952 to 1956, after which he transitioned to the Agency for an enjoyable and rewarding career in cryptanalysis in the former A Group organization. He retired in 1993. George greatly enjoyed the great outdoors and would spend many hours in building furniture and other objects out of wood. He was well known to friends and family as a skilled handyman and was always happy to lend his capabilities to those in need of the assistance. When not being called upon for help, or spending time with his family, he loved to spend time on the Bay in his sailboat, join with friends on cruises, relax at his condo in Ocean City and in traveling in general.
Mr. Farfaras is survived by his wife of 33 years, Pamela Farfaras, daughter, Christina Farfaras, daughter, Judith Gordon, son, Mark Farfaras, grandson, Brandon Farfaras, grandson, Cody Smorse, grandson, Justin Smorse, grandson, Michael Gordon, grandson, Derek Gordon, and great grandson, Devon Farfaras. He was preceded in death by his parents, Angela Spinale and Andrew Farfaras, sisters, Anna Wood and Patty Fitzgerald, as well as by daughter, Sharon Farfaras.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
