Harry Joseph (“Jerry”) Fenzel, 70, beloved son of the late Leo Francis Fenzel Sr. and Adrienne Malloy Fenzel (nee Eberly), was born on August 6, 1950 in Baltimore, MD. He died peacefully on Wednesday morning, February 10, 2021 after a long battle with Atypical Parkinson’s and Lewy body dementia at Amy’s Compassionate Care in Baltimore, MD.
Jerry graduated from Calvert Hall College High School in 1968 and went on to earn his BBA in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame in 1972. He also earned his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law (1978) and LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center (1983).
Jerry moved to Morristown, NJ in 1981 with his family, then-wife Mary Margaret (“Peggy”) and three children, where he founded his own wealth management and accounting firm, Fenzel & Company, Inc. Additionally, he was the owner and CEO of Fairgate Rule Company based in Rhinebeck, NY. Dissolving Fenzel & Company, Inc. in 1997, Jerry accepted a position at Bessemer Trust in New York City. At Bessemer, he was a Principal, responsible for raising capital for their robust investment asset portfolios and remained with the firm until 2002. Shortly after, Jerry founded Airtime Manager, a software company that developed a suite of products allowing mobile professionals to track and record their billable time.
Jerry was also an active member of the Maryland Bar Association, University of Baltimore Law School Advisory Board, and President and board member of Montgomery County Public Schools Information Technology Foundation (MCPS). Jerry resided in Morristown, NJ until 2004 when he moved back to the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan area and remained there until his passing.
Jerry will be remembered for his love of family and friends, travel, and, of course, Notre Dame football.
