Hilda Roberta Sawczenko, wife of Joseph Louis Sawczenko, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday evening, October 26, 2020 at her home in Jessup at the young age of 93.
She was the daughter of Harvey Riley Watkins and Pauline Ellen Watkins (Abey), now deceased. She was predeceased by siblings Pauline Kelch, Irma Montgomery, Hazel Duncan, Ethyl Trimble, and Melvin Watkins.
Hilda was a proud loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She was an independent women for her generation, working at Locke Insulators until she met the love of her life. She met Joe dancing at Gwynn Oak Park at the dance hall known as the “Dixie Ballroom”. She was no stranger to dancing, her father was a Professor of ballroom dance and she worked at his dance hall helping teach his students to master ballroom dance.
Hilda’s focus in life was her family and keeping a warm comfortable home for all. She loved to laugh and joke around and could always be found with some sort of outfit, or item to keep everyone amused.
She is survived by a son, Bruce A. Sawczenko, as well as a son Steven D. Sawczenko, and daughter-in-law, Traci; grandchildren Corey J. Sawczenko and Nicole D. Guidara, husband, John Guidara, and many nieces and nephews.
