"Our dear Oma" - Ingeborg Erna Freudenstein, passed away on Oct 1, 2025 at the age of 97. She lost her tough battle with heart failure and died peacefully at home. She was born July 21, 1928 in Rudersburg, Germany to the late Karl and Marie Dietrich.
In 1948, Ingeborg attended a private business school in Stuttgart. After graduating, she held several jobs and ultimately worked for Weiss & Freitag. It was at that time on break for Mardi Gras she met Ernest on February, 3, 1954 in Stuttgart, Bad Cannstatt. Ernest was stationed at the 5th General Hospital there. After getting married to Ernest Freudenstein on April 16, 1955, they came to live in America. Ingeborg quickly learned English and adapted to the American way.
She was a hard worker with an incredible ability to use common sense to navigate any obstacle. She worked many years at Giant Food where she was recognized for her amazingly sharp math skills. Ingeborg was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend who touched everyone with her thoughtfulness and advice.
She is survived by her two daughters Ingeborg Hissa and Janet Carter, and grandchildren Heidi Kavanaugh and Colton Carter.
She was a very strong woman leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength and will be deeply missed by her loving family and countless friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, November 12 at Barebones Restaurant in Ellicott City from 4:00 - 7:00PM
