Obituary

Insook Choy, wife of Robert K. Choy, died on the afternoon of August 31st, 2023 at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center in Columbia, MD, surrounded by her loved ones. 

She was the daughter of Soon Kwon Cho and Myung Soon Lee of Seoul, South Korea, now deceased. She is survived by two brothers, Hyung N. Cho (Sun Ae Lee) and Byung S. Cho (Young Bok Kwon). She was predeceased by brother Kyung N. Cho (Soon Ok Kim). 

Insook Choy obtained a Bachelor’s in English Literature from Ewha Womens University in Seoul, South Korea before immigrating to the United States. 

Employed at The World Bank full-time until 1996 and part-time until  2014. She was well known for her sharp, well organized skills; she was chosen for many World Bank missions and projects overseas.  During her years at the Bank, she took her family every two years to travel abroad to Asia and Europe, before spending the month of August with extended family in Korea. She always helped those in need which set an example of how one should live. 

She is survived by her husband of 59 years and their four children. Stella Seo (Sung Seo), Diane Choy, Tina Furjanic (COL Andrew  Furjanic US Army) and Robert S. Choy (Sydni Choy); grandchildren, Stephanie Gould (Christopher Gould), Samantha Waddell (Robert Ian  Waddell), Sophia Seo, Michael Yang, Kevin Yang, Shaun Yang,  Andrew K. Furjanic, Keira Furjanic, SSgt. Patrick Choy USAF, PFC  Preston Choy US Army, Logan Choy; great-grandchildren Kennedy Gould, Christopher Nash Gould, and Ciel Yuri Choy.
