Irene Theresa Ronson, known lovingly to family and friends as Tess, passed away on May 10, 2026, in Ellicott City, Maryland, at the age of 99, after a long and faithful life lived in God’s grace. Born on April 4, 1927, in Avoca, Pennsylvania, she embodied a remarkable blend of kindness, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family, her faith, and caring for others throughout her life. She was a blessing to all who knew her and will be remembered for her gentle spirit, warm hospitality, and quiet strength.
Tess was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry R. Ronson, and seven of her siblings who passed before her. She is survived by her daughters, Karen Becraft (husband Rod) and Mary Bloom (husband Frank); her grandchildren, Chris Becraft, Nick Becraft, Brittany Kwiatkowski, Katie Thomas, Frank Bloom Jr., and Ben Bloom; her ten great-grandchildren; and her sister, Nancy Brady. Her family was the center of her world, and she gave them a lifetime of love and encouragement.
A woman of deep Catholic faith, Tess lived with steady compassion and a grace that touched everyone around her. She studied nursing and answered that call with dedication, serving as a registered nurse until her retirement at the remarkable age of 78. Through those many years of service, she comforted patients, supported families, and cared for others with patience, dignity, and kindness. Her work reflected her lifelong commitment to putting the needs of others before her own.
Tess also found joy in both simple daily pleasures and spirited pursuits. She loved knitting, sewing, reading, walking, and playing bridge, and she was always happy cheering on the Baltimore Orioles. She remained active in her Catholic parish and faithfully participated in church activities throughout her life. In earlier years, she enjoyed bowling, square dancing, tennis, ceramics, and painting, and was active in the Polish Club of College Park. She also loved to travel, creating cherished memories and gathering stories she delighted in sharing with family and friends.
Above all, Tess cherished her family. Few things brought her greater joy than attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, preparing meals for those she loved, and gathering everyone around the table. Her chicken and rice casserole, split pea soup, and egg rolls became beloved family favorites. These small but enduring expressions of her love and the treasured moments they created are part of the lasting legacy she leaves behind.
Tess lived a life marked by faith, service, humility, and steadfast love. Her example of devotion, perseverance, and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew her. Though her earthly journey has ended, her memory will remain a source of comfort and strength to those she loved. May Irene Theresa Ronson rest in the peace of Christ. Her family takes solace in the promise of eternal life and in the many years of love, wisdom, and devotion she shared so freely. She will be remembered always with love, gratitude, affection, and deep respect by all whose lives she touched.
