Dr. Jack Dennis Vandermer passed away September 9, 2024, at Howard County General Hospital.
Born in Charleroi, PA on December 8, 1941, he was the son of the late Fred Emil Vandermer and Betty Soles Vandermer. Dr. Vandermer was a graduate of Charleroi High School, Penn State University and the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. After serving a two year tour of duty at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, he taught at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry . He then received a Masters degree in Education. He also opened a dental practice in Ellicott City and continued to teach part time at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Bray Vandermer, son, John Emil Vandermer and daughter, Kimberly Vandermer Bloodworth of Birmingham, AL. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Adele Tydings Bloodworth, Roy Warner Vandermer and Alexis Noel Vandermer. Jack is also survived by two brothers, Kenneth Bruce Vandermer and Robert Paul Vandermer.
