James R. Hickey

James "Pop" Robert Hickey of Ellicott City, Maryland, died on June 24, 2026, at his home, surrounded by family. James was born on January 31, 1947, in Washington, D.C., to his parents, Perry and Gertrude Hickey. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Richard and John.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Anne; his son, Sam (Rachael); his daughter, Sloane (Scott); his adored grandchildren, Hudson, Connor, Sylvie, and Casper; his sister, Donna (Bob); and his brother, Larry.

James worked as a pressman at the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing, where he retired in 2013.

Visitation will be held on July 10 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Harry H. Witzke's Family Funeral Home, 4112 Old Columbia Pike, Ellicott City, MD 21043. Interment will be private.
