Janet Douma, wife of Anthony Douma, died in peace on Wednesday evening, September 23, 2020, at the Howard County General Hospital in Columbia, MD.
She was the daughter of Charles and Minnie Douma of Sussex, NJ, now deceased. She is survived by her sister, Wilma Vander Kooy.
Janet Douma was born on December 10, 1943, was raised on her father’s dairy farm in northern New Jersey and graduated from Wayne Valley High School.
Janet held a variety of financial roles in the advertising and commercial real estate sectors before transitioning to being a personal real estate agent with Weichert Realtors. She retired from Weichert in 2015 and relocated to Maryland in 2019 where she and her husband resided at HeartLands Village, a senior living community in Ellicott City. Janet was a devoted mother and a faithful member of her church community.
She is survived by a daughter, Renee E. Boardman, and son-in-law, Thomas D. Boardman, as well as a son, Wayne P. Borduin, and daughter-in-law, Stacie A. Borduin; grandchildren Hannah, Micah, Elisabeth, Abigail, Leah, William, Andrew, and Susanna. She is further survived by a step-daughter, Roxanne Douma, and step-son, Andrew Douma, and his wife Susan; grandchildren Stephanie, Melissa, Nathan, and Casey.
A Celebration of Life service for Janet is planned at Forcey Bible Church (2130 E. Randolph Road, Silver Spring MD 20904) at 2 pm on Saturday, October 10, 2020. The service will be followed by light refreshments and then a time of fellowship as we enjoy a walk down memory lane with you. For those who are not able to join in person, we plan to provide a link so that you can view the service virtually. For those in attendance, we will be following all of the local COVID guidelines including wearing masks and social distancing.
