To know her is to love her. Our charming mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Jean Swain, passed from this world peacefully on Sunday September 17, 2023 to join her husband on Heaven's dance floor. Her life was like a good book. Each chapter was filled with challenges and personal achievements that were accomplished with the support and love of family.
Born on September 27, 1941 to the delight of Virginia and Roger Huntington. She spent her formative years in West Hartford, Connecticut, in a home overflowing with love; shared with her parents, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Fond memories of chasing cousins around the house was only the beginning of the adventure.
In 1958 she moved to Maryland where she completed her final year of highschool graduating in 1959. Shortly after she accepted an invitation to a blind date where she met the man that would become her future husband, Chuck Swain. Not long after, in 1960, she graduated from nursing school, a career that was more than just a job, it was a way of life. Years after retirement, she was still the family's first resource for all medical questions.
In 1962 she and Chuck solidified their union with a quiet ceremony. They celebrated the birth of their first child, Sheryl, in 1963. Followed by their two other children, William and James. The love she had for her children and her growing family was matched only by the soft waves of the Chesapeake Bay where she spent many happy years with Chuck.
Like the warm waters of the bay wrapping around the sands of Maryland, she too is wrapped around her family. Her legacy of kindness and caring continues through her children, her nine grandchildren, Chastity, Justin, Nathaniel, Heather, Elsa, Darion, Tristin, Logan, and Megan, and her seven great grandchildren, Eris, Seth, Kylie, Sydney, Lenox, Camden, and Aria.
A celebration of life will be announced shortly.
