Joan Elizabeth Rider died on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Seasons Hospice at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center in Baltimore, MD, following a battle with COVID-19.

She is survived by her cousin and sister-of-the-heart, Eileen Lyons Fleckenstein; and cousins Carolyn Ent (Robert Almond), Cynthia Fleckenstein Freeman, Jean Fleckenstein Bunker (Robert), and Kristina Topper, as well as numerous other relatives and close friends who all cherished their times with Joan.
Joan Rider graduated from Towson High School with the class of 1960.

She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority for many years. Joan enjoyed travel, visiting Europe and Hawaii with friends. She also was a huge fan of Elvis, and a favorite memory of hers was seeing him in concert in Las Vegas.

Joan had a joyful laugh and a giving spirit, and touched many lives. She was a thoughtful card sender, always including a heartfelt, and often witty, sentiment.
