John Neville, Sr. Obituary

On May 15, 2018 John M. Neville, loving husband of the late Norma Jean (Leslie) Neville, devoted father of Norma Jean Angermaier and her husband, Wayne; Douglas P. Neville and his wife Delia Morales; Mary Jo Neville and her husband William D. Brown; and the late John M. (Jack) Neville Jr., 4 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends.

Mr. Neville was a member of St. Joseph’s Monastery Parish and a graduate of Mt. St. Joseph High School. He was a WWII veteran, having served in the European Theater as a Staff Sergeant in the Army Air Corp. He was a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Neville was also a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1960 and a 50+ year member of the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Mr. Neville loved nothing more than spending time with his family. He grew up in the Irvington neighborhood of Baltimore City, the 7th of 15 children of the late Fred and Ella (Siegfried) Neville. After graduating from Mt. St. Joe in 1941 he worked for the B & O Railroad until he enlisted in the Army where he served for over three years. After the War he met Norma Jean Leslie whom he married in 1948. Preferring to work outside, he was a member of the Baltimore City Police Department for several years before leaving to become a letter carrier, a career he loved for 32 years.

John Neville will be remembered as a kind, generous and gentle man who was loved by everyone he met and who will be missed by many. Contributions in his name may be made to the St. Joseph Monastery Parish, 251 S. Morley Street, Baltimore, MD 21229.
